FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is TEF Canada and what does this site cover?
TEF Canada (Test d'évaluation de français) is a French proficiency exam accepted by IRCC for Canadian immigration. This site provides practice for all four parts — reading (compréhension écrite), listening (compréhension orale), writing (expression écrite), and speaking (expression orale).
How many mock tests and practice materials are included?
39 full timed mock tests (19 reading and 20 listening), 145 writing prompts across Sections A and B, and 159 speaking topics with model answers, useful expressions, and voice recording — all with progress tracking.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. After you create a free account, the first test in every module is free, so you can try the experience before you buy. There is also a free no-signup practice test with an instant estimated CLB band.
What is the Leaderboard (Le Classement)?
An optional weekly board on your dashboard, ranked by practice effort — never by test scores. You join under a pseudonym, it resets every Monday, and rows marked 🤖 are automated pace companions (not people) that model different weekly practice rhythms. Details are in our Terms.
How is my CLB / NCLC level estimated?
After each reading or listening mock test, your raw score is converted into an approximate CLB/NCLC band modelled on the official IRCC score ranges for TEF Canada. These are practice estimates to guide your preparation — only the official exam produces an official level.
What CLB level do I need for Express Entry?
Most candidates aim for CLB/NCLC 7 in all four skills — that unlocks up to 50 additional CRS points for French. On TEF Canada (tests after December 10, 2023), NCLC 7 requires roughly Reading 207/300, Listening 249/360, Writing 310/450, and Speaking 310/450. Always verify current thresholds on canada.ca.
How much does it cost?
Premium access is a one-time payment that unlocks every test in all four modules for 30 days. It does not auto-renew — when the 30 days end, you can buy again if you'd like to continue. Prices are shown in your local currency: ₹ for users in India and CA$ for everyone else.
How do I pay?
Payments are handled securely by Razorpay. You can pay with UPI, Visa, Mastercard, and international cards.
Can I get a refund?
Because access is granted immediately, purchases are generally non-refundable — except for duplicate charges, billing errors, verified technical problems on our side, or unauthorised payments, reported within 7 days. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for details.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The platform works in any modern browser on desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile. The speaking module needs microphone access to record your answers.
Are the scores official?
No. Scores and estimated CLB/NCLC levels are practice estimates to help you track progress. They are not official TEF Canada results.
Can I practise in English or French?
The interface has an English / French toggle. The practice content (questions, passages, audio) is always in French, as in the real exam.
Do you also offer TCF Canada practice?
Yes — our sister platform, tcfcanadapractice.com, offers the same style of exam practice for the TCF Canada. If you're still deciding which exam to take, see our TEF vs TCF comparison guide first: both are accepted equally by IRCC, so it comes down to which format suits you.
Is this affiliated with the official exam?
No. TEFCanadaPractice is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with the official TEF Canada exam or France Éducation international.
