The two speaking tasks
Section A — obtaining information (~5 min): you've seen an advert and phone to ask questions. Example from our bank — “CLUB DE MARCHE”: Vous avez lu cette annonce et vous êtes intéressé(e). Vous téléphonez pour avoir plus d’informations. You're rewarded for varied, natural question forms covering price, schedule, conditions, and details.
Section B — persuading (~10 min): you must convince the examiner (a friend, a colleague…) to do something — and answer their objections. Structure, concession phrases (“certes… mais”), and persistence win points.

Frequently asked questions
What are the TEF Canada speaking tasks?
Expression orale has two role-plays with an examiner: Section A, where you call to ask questions about an advert or offer (obtaining information), and Section B, where you must persuade someone and handle their objections. Together they're scored out of 450.
What speaking score do I need for CLB 7?
310 out of 450 (tests after December 10, 2023). CLB 9 requires 371. Clear structure, varied question forms, and natural connectors matter more than a perfect accent.
Can I record myself?
Yes — that's the core of our speaking practice. Record timed answers with your microphone, save multiple takes, replay them, and compare against model questions, rebuttals, and useful expressions for the exact topic.
How do the timers work?
Exam mode gives you the official preparation minute, then a timed speaking window (about 5 minutes for Section A, 10 for Section B) — so the pressure feels exactly like test day. Practice mode is untimed.
