Why listening decides so many results

Unlike reading, you can't slow the exam down: the audio sets the pace and plays once. Success comes from trained anticipation — reading the options before the audio starts, catching numbers, places, and intentions on the first pass, and never letting one missed question sink the next three. That's a skill you build only by practising under the same once-only conditions.

How our listening practice works

  • 20 full mock tests with studio-quality French audio and picture questions, like the real exam.
  • Two modes: practice (replay freely, position saved) and exam (audio plays once, no rewind — true test-day conditions).
  • 50-minute session timer with auto-submit.
  • Instant scoring with an estimated CLB/NCLC band.
  • Review with correct answers and full transcriptions — turn every miss into vocabulary.
  • Resume mid-test; scores tracked across all 20 tests.

Frequently asked questions

What is the TEF Canada listening format?

Compréhension orale has 40 multiple-choice questions, scored out of 360. You hear announcements, dialogues, radio-style extracts, and messages — each played once. The first questions are picture-based.

Is the audio really played only once?

On the real exam, yes — no replay, no rewind. Our exam mode reproduces exactly that; practice mode lets you replay freely while you build skill.

What listening score do I need for CLB 7?

249 out of 360 (tests after December 10, 2023). CLB 9 requires 298. Verify current thresholds on canada.ca.

Are transcriptions included?

Yes. After you submit, the review shows each question with the correct answer and the audio transcription so you can see exactly what you missed and why.
