Terms of Service
Effective 12 October 2026 · Version 4
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and TEFCanadaPractice ("TEFCanadaPractice", "we", "us", or "our"), the operator of tefcanadapractice.com (the "Service"). By creating an account, making a purchase, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, Refund & Cancellation Policy, and Service Delivery Policy, which are incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these Terms on your behalf. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate and complete. The Service is intended for individual, personal exam preparation only.
3. About the Service
TEFCanadaPractice provides online practice materials for the TEF Canada examination, including reading (compréhension écrite), listening (compréhension orale), writing (expression écrite), and speaking (expression orale) practice, mock tests, model answers, useful expressions, estimated level indicators, progress tracking, and the live AI Examiner (see Section 8a).
Scores, feedback, and any estimated CLB/NCLC levels shown in the Service are approximate practice indicators generated by our tools and by AI models provided by OpenAI (see Section 15). They are not official results and do not predict or guarantee your performance on the official examination.
4. Accounts and registration
Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep it up to date, and to keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Each account is for a single individual; you may not share, sell, or transfer your account or allow others to use it. Notify us immediately at info@tefcanadapractice.com if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
5. Email verification and communications
We may require you to verify your email address before your account is fully activated. By creating an account you agree to receive service-related communications from us — such as verification, password reset, purchase receipts, and important account or security notices — at the email address you provide. These are necessary to operate your account and are not marketing messages.
We also send optional emails that are not needed to operate your account:
- a welcome email when you join;
- a series of study tips during your first week;
- a check-in in the middle of your access period;
- a reminder before your access ends, and a note when it has ended;
- a message inviting you back a few weeks after your access has ended;
- if you give us your exam date, emails around it: good luck before the exam, a question about how it went, and suggested next steps;
- notices when you earn referral credit;
- occasional announcements about new features;
- a weekly practice recap in any week in which you earn effort points; and
- follow-up emails after a payment that did not go through.
Every one of these emails carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can switch them all off at any time with that link or under Email preferences in your account. Account and purchase emails, such as those in the first paragraph of this section, cannot be switched off, because we need them to operate your account and your purchases.
6. Free trial
After you create an account, the first test or prompt in each module is available free of charge so you can evaluate the Service before purchasing. We may change or withdraw the scope of the free trial at any time.
7. Pricing and payment
Premium access is sold as a one-time purchase that unlocks all premium content for a fixed access period (see Section 8). Minutes for the live AI Examiner are sold separately in packs, as described in Section 8a.
We set our prices in the currencies we offer: Canadian dollars (CA$), US dollars (US$), euros (€), British pounds (£), Indian rupees (₹), Central African CFA francs (FCFA), Algerian dinars (DA), Nigerian naira (₦) and Tunisian dinars (DT). When you visit, we preselect a currency from the country suggested by your IP address, and you can choose another currency we offer before you pay. If your IP address suggests that you are in India, you pay in Indian rupees, because UPI and Indian cards pay in rupees. The amount and currency shown in the payment window, before you confirm the payment, are what you pay: our price in the selected currency, less any referral discount that applies to you. Our prices in each currency are set by us and are not live conversions from another currency, so they may differ slightly from current exchange rates. If you pay in a currency other than that of your card or account, your card issuer may charge conversion or foreign transaction fees.
Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider, Razorpay. We do not receive or store your full card or bank details. Prices are inclusive of taxes only where stated; you are responsible for any taxes, fees, or currency-conversion or bank charges that apply to your payment.
8. Access period and no auto-renewal
A successful purchase grants premium access for 30 days from the time access is granted. This is a one-time purchase: it does not auto-renew and no recurring charges are made. When the 30-day period ends, premium access stops automatically, and you may purchase again to continue. If you buy again before your current period ends, the additional 30 days are added to your remaining time.
8a. Live AI Examiner and minute packs
The live AI Examiner is a spoken practice conversation in French with an AI voice provided by OpenAI (see Section 15). It is part of premium access, and the time you spend in a conversation is taken from your balance of live minutes.
- Minute packs. We sell packs of 30 minutes and 60 minutes, at the price shown on the buy button, in the currency you choose (see Section 7). Each pack is a one-time purchase, available while your premium access is active. Packs do not renew and are never charged again automatically.
- Expiry. Minutes are added to your account immediately and expire 90 days after the purchase. You can use them only while your premium access is active, and the 90 days continue to run while it is not.
- How time is counted. We count time second by second while a conversation runs, including the examiner's replies. If your device stops responding during a conversation, up to 45 seconds may be counted after it last responded.
- Starting and length. You need at least 60 seconds of balance to start a conversation, and each conversation is limited to the length of that exam task.
- What you need. A microphone and an up-to-date browser that supports live audio, such as Chrome, Edge or Safari. While you talk, your voice is streamed to OpenAI, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Refunds. Refunds of minute packs are handled under our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
8b. Trial minutes
When you have premium access, we add 5 trial minutes to your account once, so that you can try the live AI Examiner. These trial minutes are included with premium access, at no extra charge. They are valid for 30 days after they are added and can be used only while your premium access is active. They have no cash value and cannot be refunded, exchanged or transferred.
9. Refunds and cancellation
Because access is a one-time purchase that does not auto-renew, there is nothing to cancel — access simply ends when the period expires. Refunds are handled in accordance with our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
10. Acceptable use
You agree that you will not, and will not attempt to:
- copy, reproduce, record, download in bulk, republish, distribute, sell, sublicense, or publicly display any practice content;
- share your account or provide access to the paid content to anyone else;
- use any robot, scraper, crawler, or automated means to access, extract, or harvest content or data;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code or underlying data of the Service;
- misuse the AI features — for example, submitting content that is not your own exam practice, that contains other people's personal data, or that is unlawful, abusive, or intended to manipulate the AI;
- share, post or send us questions, texts, images or audio from a real TEF Canada exam session, which the exam owner keeps confidential; we do not accept, use or publish such content;
- interfere with, disrupt, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its accounts, servers, or networks;
- upload or transmit anything unlawful, infringing, malicious, or that violates the rights of others; or
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these Terms.
11. Intellectual property
All content, materials, software, design, text, graphics, audio, and other elements of the Service are owned by or licensed to TEFCanadaPractice and are protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the content solely for your own, non-commercial exam preparation. No other rights are granted. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
12. Your content
The Service lets you create content such as voice recordings (speaking module), written submissions (writing module), and answers. You retain ownership of your content. You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your content back to you for the purpose of operating the Service (for example, saving and playing back your recordings and progress). If you submit a review for publication, you also grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish it (your display name, star rating, text and date) on our website and in data we provide to search engines, until you ask us to remove it. You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to submit it. You can delete your saved recordings and your account at any time from within the Service. The audio of a saved recording is deleted automatically 60 days after you record it; its transcript and any AI feedback stay in your account, as described in our Privacy Policy.
12a. Leaderboard and automated pace companions
The Service includes an optional weekly leaderboard ranked by practice effort, never by test scores. Participation is opt-in: you appear only after choosing a display name, and you can leave at any time. Alongside participants, the leaderboard includes a small number of automated pace companions. These are system-generated markers that model different weekly practice rhythms — they are not real students, they hold no accounts, they never receive achievements reserved for participants, and they are excluded from any statistics we publish about our users. Effort points have no monetary value, exist purely for motivation, and may be recalculated or reset (weekly by design, or if irregular activity is detected).
13. Third-party services
We rely on trusted third-party providers to operate the Service, including Razorpay (payments), Supabase (authentication, database, and file storage), Resend (email), OpenAI (AI features), Google (sign-in with Google and, if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics), Cloudflare (the Turnstile check on our sign-up, sign-in and password forms), and Vercel (hosting). Your use of the Service may be subject to those providers' terms, and their processing of data is described in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
14. Availability and changes to the Service
We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, add, or remove features, content, or tests at any time, and may perform maintenance that temporarily limits availability. We are not liable for any unavailability, provided that if a paid feature is unavailable for a prolonged period through our fault, you may contact us about your access.
15. Disclaimers and no guarantee of results
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. TEFCanadaPractice is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de région Paris Île-de-France (CCI Paris Île-de-France, Le français des affaires), which owns and administers the TEF Canada examination, nor to France Éducation international, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), or any other government or immigration authority. TEF and TEF Canada are trade-marks of CCI Paris Île-de-France. We do not guarantee any particular score, level, exam result, immigration outcome, or benefit from using the Service.
AI features. Written and spoken feedback, the live AI Examiner (a real-time spoken conversation with an AI voice) and the dictionary use AI models provided by OpenAI. The examiner is an AI system, not a person and not an official TEF Canada examiner or rater. Its levels, corrections, rewritten answers and definitions are automated estimates that can be wrong; they are not official results or professional advice. Some practice texts, explanations and model answers were written or edited with AI tools, and some listening audio uses synthesised (text-to-speech) voices. When you use these features, the content they need is sent to OpenAI, as described in our Privacy Policy. AI output is provided "as is" without warranty of accuracy.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TEFCanadaPractice and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to us for the Service in the 30 days before the event giving rise to the claim.
17. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TEFCanadaPractice and its operators from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
18. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or to protect the Service or other users. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except as set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.
19. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights available to you in your country of residence, you agree that the courts of India will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service. Before starting any formal proceedings, you agree to first contact us at info@tefcanadapractice.com so we can try to resolve the matter informally.
20. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will publish the new version with a new version number and effective date, keep earlier versions available through the links at the end of this page and, where appropriate, notify you. Changes take effect when posted. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
21. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms, together with the policies referenced above, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
